Nevada’s Marijuana Regulators Are Working Out the Kinks Before Summer Launch

July in Vegas is blazing hot, but tourists love to come and this year will be no exception, especially if regulators stay on their current track for rolling out recreational marijuana sales.

It’s going to cost the state big bucks before you can snag some flower from a dispensary without a medical marijuana card.

Officials told the Vegas Review-Journal it will take more than $14 million to get the state’s retail marijuana industry started.

Most of the money, roughly $10 million, will be used to pay for employees, new equipment, and operating expenses.

The state is working to accelerate the development of the legal cannabis industry by allowing medical marijuana dispensaries in good standing with the state to be able to apply for temporary recreational sales licenses.

Dispensaries can begin applying in May with sales beginning July 1.
