Nevadans Could Be Able To Purchase Recreational Weed Sooner Than Expected
Since Nevada passed recreational marijuana back in November, state regulators have been working toward a July 1 launch for recreational sales. That’s an impressive six months ahead of a voter-mandated deadline, but one Las Vegas-based senator has an earlier date in mind.
Sen. Tick Segerblom, pictured above, is attempting to start recreational marijuana sales in Nevada at least a few weeks earlier than planned in the event the state’s current timeline runs into any hiccups, he said at a Friday hearing.
The Democratic senator wants pot sales to begin by mid-June, perfect for tourism season no doubt.
However a a statement out of Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval’s office could indicate a plan to block the bill, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
The state is on track to be ready to license medical marijuana dispensaries to begin selling recreational marijuana by July 1.
