Millennials in Cannabis: Meet Megan Summers
This Thursday, the Las Vegas cannabis scene will gather for the latest installment of the Millennials in Cannabis series hosted by the Las Vegas Medical Marijuana Association and Social Media Unicorn.
Ahead of the event, which kicks of tonight at 5:30 at the Las Vegas Country Club, we caught up with panelist Megan Summers to learn more about her experience as a millennial working in this emerging industry.
Cannabis in Vegas: How did you begin your career in the Las Vegas cannabis industry?
Megan Summers: I started a little over a year ago opening Reef’s first dispensary in Las Vegas.
CIV: What’s your favorite part as a millennial working in this emerging green industry?
Megan: My favorite part is that the industry is young just like us millennials so there is constantly change, new developments, and problems to creatively solve. No day is exactly the same and while there are new challenges those only serve as more opportunities to further define this young, growing industry.
CIV: What do you think has impacted the wider acceptance of marijuana use in millennials?
Megan: Overall the image of the “stoner” has changed. The stigma of smoking weed, getting locked on your couch and accomplishing nothing is diminishing. The new stoner culture thrives on being productive – advocating for what you think should be legal, developing innovative new technology, and working incredibly hard to accomplish goals. Millennials see marijuana no longer as a gateway drug but as a gateway to new opportunities.
