Pot Smoking Safe Havens Could Be Soon Coming to Vegas
Now that adult use marijuana is available in Nevada, smoking marijuana in public places is under heavy debate in the states newly legalized recreational market.
What is a vacationing tourist to do if they want to smoke their legal weed? You can’t do it while you drive, in public or in most hotels.
That’s the driving force behind Nevada Senator Tick Segerblom’s social use proposal, a bill introduced earlier this month aimed at giving local governments the power to issue licenses that allow people to smoke weed in designated public areas.
These so-called “marijuana safe-havens” would most likely operate in bars, dispensaries and even yoga studios, The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Segerblom told reporters he believes it is imperative for the state to put a law of this nature on the books in order to prevent a law enforcement nightmare citing complications in Colorado, where both public smoking and smoking clubs have been banned, leading tourists to spark up in rental cars and public parks.
Last fall, the Nevada Gaming Commission announced that casinos will not permit cannabis use. That leaves many tourists coming to take part in Las Vegas’s adult use cannabis market with nowhere to partake.
Las Vegas attracts around 39.2 million visitors every year.
